Does anyone know if I can use a “corporate volume rate” discount at a hotel?

Ashley S asked:

I found a coupon code online for Day’s Inn that takes 20% off the best rate, but it is a “corporate volume rate”. I don’t know what that means. I am wondering if anyone know whether I can use this without encountering problems when I check in?

Actually might have a problem using it.
Larger corporations have discount agreements for their employees with several lodging chains. And when checking in it is not unusual for the lodging company to ask for a company id. Or a CC that has a company id on it.
